The pick-up shall follow an "ideal track" over a record where the tracking error shall be as small as possible. 

By downloading this tool you can control and adjust your pick-up to follow this ideal track as good as possible. 

1: -Download this picture (PDF format) align.pdf (thanks P-A);
2: -Print the picture. 
3: -Compare the scale on the picture with a ruler (centimeters). 
4: -Adjust the output size for the printed picture until the scale match.
(can be done in in printer output settings) 
5: -Make a hole in the paper and put it on a record. 
6: -Follow the instructions on the tool. (until you have zero tracking error in both positions.)
